Supplementing to Health

Protein.

Amino acids.

Vitamins.

Minerals.

These are the tip of the supplement iceberg. Knowing what supplements you should take can out you in the middle of the iceberg and leave you overwhelmed.

The bulk of the population should use supplements as just that: a SUPPLEMENT to your health, not the primary element. Take protein, for example. There are a plethora of protein sources that you can get from your every day food intake. Additionally, getting your daily protein needs through a food source will leave you feeling more satiated for longer- this helps prevent overconsumption of food in general. Protein supplements absolutely have their place for supplementing your diet but they should not be the primary source.

Many vitamins and minerals can also be achieved through a well-rounded diet of whole food. Fruits and vegetables are abundant in vitamins and minerals needed in your diet.

Supplements are a very overwhelming part of a health journey, and are widely unregulated. This means there is no guarantee regarding the ingredients utilized in the supplement. Given this, how do you know what you should or shouldn't use? What is good quality and what is junk? Ask someone with knowledge of supplements, do your own research, and ask questions. Looking at reviews of products is also a good place to start when beginning to navigate supplementation.
